Leisure and recreation
The interests of nature, culture, recreation and leisure time in a landscape always clash. The surroundings of a recreation area, including existing leisure possibilities and surrounding villages and towns, must be taken into consideration when planning and designing it. Besides, it is important that the plan should have added value for the inhabitants of the surrounding area, e.g., when it comes to employment. In many instances, the’ use 2′ of the site to be developed will have to be different from that which is already on offer elsewhere in the neighbourhood. This can be achieved by creating centralized facilities in the park or by making adequate use of its location in the surrounding area. Based on adequate plan development and spatial vision, renovation can result in a completely different site which is consistent with current quality requirements.
Focus groups, leisure time and relaxation, among other things, should be taken into account when developing bungalows, chalets and camping places. Relaxation has become a crucial element in today’s society.
The surroundings of a building should be a continuation of the relaxation provided inside the building, e.g., the ‘green and blue environment’ of a sauna complex.
Many parties act as a sounding board for planning when it comes to the development of public spaces and recreation parks. The resulting participation processes are nice, but create a distance between the designer and the actual users of the project to be developed. That’s why we believe that it is a challenge to design private gardens.
